At Drive Revive Exterior Cleaning, we provide professional roof cleaning and moss removal services across Portsmouth and surrounding Hampshire areas.
Over the past two years alone, we have completed nearly 200 professional roof cleans across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. Roof cleaning has become one of our most in-demand services, with homeowners and businesses consistently choosing Drive Revive for safe, effective, and long-lasting moss removal.
Our experience across a wide range of roof types and conditions means we understand exactly how to achieve outstanding results without causing damage.
Before any work begins, we carry out a free roof inspection. During the visit we assess the overall condition of your roof, the type and profile of your roof tile, access requirements for our high-access tower system and to have a chat about the most suitible cleaning method for your property.
We also ensure your property is left spotless after completion. Any mess created during the process is thoroughly cleaned and cleared. We clean all windows, doors, walls, fences, public footpaths, roads and surrounding areas.
Our Roof Cleaning Methods
Low-Pressure Roof Cleaning
Our low-pressure roof cleaning method uses specialist equipment and telescopic carbon fibre poles to safely remove dirt, moss, algae, and lichen.
All work is carried out from a secure high-access scaffold tower. Our poles are fitted with adjustable angled adaptors, ensuring water is always directed downwards, preventing water from entering beneath the tiles. This process is also available with steam.
This method is safe, highly effective and completely damage free and provides instant results, it restores the appearance of your roof without compromising its integrity.
Manual Roof Moss Removal (Scraping & Wire Brushing)
For more delicate roofs or roofs with much heavier moss build-up, we offer a fully manual, water free, scraping method.
Using telescopic carbon fibre poles fitted with specially shaped blades designed to match the profile of your roof tiles, we carefully remove the moss tile by tile. Again this is all done from our high-access scaffold tower. Once the moss is cleared, we then use a specialist wire brush attachment to remove any remaining debris. This technique is extremely thorough, safe for all tile types, perfect for older, more fragile roofs and again completely damage-free.
Aftercare
Post Biocide Treatment for Long-Term Protection
After cleaning we apply a licensed professional-grade biocide treatment. The treatment continues to keep working long after we leave, preventing the regrowth of moss, algae, lichen, and other organic matter. The eco-friendly treatment helps keep your roof cleaner for longer while also contributing to extending its lifespan.
Free Gutter Clearance
Every roof cleaning service we complete includes a free full gutter clearance of your entire property. This ensures any debris displaced during the cleaning process are removed, allowing rainwater to drain freely, which protects your property from costly water damage and damp issues.
2 Year Moss-Free Guarantee
All our roof cleaning services come with a 2-year guarantee. If any moss returns within that period, so will we. To date, we have never needed to return under this guarantee.

Every roof clean includes:
With nearly 200 roof cleans completed across Portsmouth and surrounding Hampshire areas in the past two years alone, we focus on delivering long-lasting results safely.
When carried out professionally, low-pressure washing is a completely safe and highly effective method of roof cleaning. At Drive Revive Exterior Cleaning, we have successfully cleaned hundreds of roofs across Portsmouth and Hampshire using controlled pressure washing techniques tailored to the specific tile type and condition.
We carefully assess each roof before starting, adjusting pressure levels accordingly to remove moss, algae, and built-up debris without causing damage. When performed correctly pressure washing can instantly restore the appearance of roofs efficiently and safely.
When cleaned and treated properly, roof cleaning can last for several years. The key isn’t just removing the visible dirt and moss, it’s treating the roof correctly afterwards. Once we’ve completed the moss removal (whether that’s low-pressure cleaning or manual scraping), we apply a licensed professional-grade biocide treatment. This continues working long after we leave, preventing the regrowth of moss, algae, lichen, and other organic matter. Because we treat the roof at the root level rather than just cleaning the surface, regrowth is significantly slowed down.
Every roof clean we carry out also comes with a 2-year moss-free guarantee. If any moss returns within that period, so will we, although to date, we’ve never needed to return under that guarantee.
Ongoing exposure to trees, shade and weather conditions can influence how quickly moss naturally comes back, but with the correct treatment, your roof will stay cleaner for far longer than just cleaning alone.
Moss might not seem like a big issue at first, but if left untreated it can cause long-term problems for your roof. Moss holds moisture against the surface of the tiles. Over time, that constant dampness can lead to tile deterioration, especially during colder months when trapped water expands and contracts. On heavier build-ups, moss can also lift tile edges slightly, which can allow water to track underneath.
Another common issue is blocked gutters. As moss naturally breaks away, it falls into the guttering system and can cause blockages. That can lead to overflowing water, damp problems and unnecessary damage to walls and foundations. By removing the moss properly and applying a professional biocide treatment afterwards, we don’t just improve how the roof looks, we help protect it long-term.
